Starting a consultancy company after more than 40 years of working experience is quite a challenge. With offering my experience and knowledge I hope to be of great assistance to the pipeline and storage tank industry.
Recognised as being an expert in non-destructive testing, assisting the council of Accreditation in my area of expertise and execute technical due diligences.
Various publications have been written and trained young pipeline engineers into the world of pipeline inspection technologies for their Masters study for Pipeline Engineer at the Dutch High-school of Breda.
Started my career with Shell in 1981 working on various research projects in the field of analytical chemistry and materials engineering. In the early nineties changed my job to become a non-destructive testing engineer. Became responsible for carrying out and evaluating the intelligent pig test in Shell’s testloop the “Krakeling”. Involved in various pipeline-related projects, specialised in non-piggable pipelines, pipeline integrity management and a member of the pipeline operator forum (POF). In 1998, moved to A.Hak Industrial services being manager for the new founded pipeline inspection division, specializing in the ultrasonic inspection of non-piggable pipelines.
Within A Hak Industrial services involved in the development of new technologies and game changing inspection tools. As a member of the directors responsible for the pipeline Inspection department, R&D programme and Tanks services division.
Tank robotic inspection systems (PetroBot) for inspection of tank bottom plates, the in-line pipeline inspection for non-piggable pipelines (PigLet, Push pull, process furnace) were developed, leading the company to a market leader being commercially successfull.
After the sale of A Hak industrial services to an Investment company, moved to Innospection. Setting-up a base in the Netherlands to offer their Magnetic Eddy current inspection services to the west European market and starting the development of specialised inspection tools in close cooperation with the R&D facility in Germany.
It is now the time to start Gruitroij Consultancy, so everyone can use my expertise and knowledge.
